Caolán Austin

Caolán Austin is an Engineer, Producer & Mixer from Derry, N. Ireland. After studying for 3 years at the Sonic Arts Research Centre in Belfast, his career began at Smalltown America Studio where he developed his skills as both a producer and a mixer. After investing an unhealthy amount of hours into learning the art of engineering, he began producing records for the likes of N.I Music Prize winner, Joshua Burnside, and other artists such as Sullivan & Gold, Our Krypton Son, Cherym & GLOO.

Caolán now runs Smalltown America Studio where he continues to develop his style & work with artists from all across UK & Europe. Frequently working as a multi-instrumentalist, he has played drums, guitar & piano for a variety of artists such as Reevah & Joshua Burnside. His production style is characterised by capturing an atmosphere with a strong musical sensibility, producing anything from metal to indie pop to folk. Caolán’s work has also been featured in publications such as Kerrang, Clash Music & Vice and enjoys regular radio play on stations such as BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music.
